Indyblue® Entertainment is Butler University’s record label and music publishing entity. It serves as the vehicle for Butler University’s Recording Industry Studies program’s senior capstone classes. While Indyblue is an educational venture, it provides a realistic experience for both students and artists.
Indyblue's mission is to provide students with a two-semester music business experience that encompasses Butler’s unique curriculum, featuring music business and audio production coursework that provide experiential learning.
Formed in 2013, Indyblue has released 3 BMIA Student Sampler EP's and 4 albums for artists that have worked with the senior capstone classes. Students undertake a variety of projects, from signing artists to the label and recording original material, to album promotion and community outreach, Indyblue provides a unique opportunity for students and artists to work together. 2016 Indy Jazz Fest Block Party: Live From the Jazz Kitchen
In the fall of 2016 an exciting opportunity opened up for Indyblue Entertainment and the Butler University students enrolled in the senior capstone classes. Indyblue Entertainment entered an agreement with Indy Jazz Fest and the Jazz Kitchen to record a Sampler album for the 2016 Indy Jazz Fest Block Party. Five bands were recorded live in hopes of permanently capturing the essence and passion of the Indy Jazz Fest. Listed below are the artists recorded during the September 24th session:
